چکیده

This paper presents a technique to determine optimal window sizes for the computational methods utilized to extract features from textured images. Those features are useful for both texture classification and segmentation. Window sizes are determined in order to outperform two complementary tasks, namely, texture feature evaluation and texture segmentation, which have opposite requirements. Thus, while texture feature evaluation requires rather large windows in order to obtain meaningful descriptions of their content, texture segmentation requires small windows in order to accurately locate the boundaries between different textured regions. The proposed technique has been applied to several well-known computational methods that are frequently utilized for feature extraction from textured images.

Texture Feature Extraction for Land-cover Classification of Remote Sensing Data in Land Consolidation District Using Semi-variogram

The area of land consolidation projects are generally small, so remote sensing images used in land cover classification are generally of high resolution. The spectral characteristics of the high-resolution remote sensing data are unstable, while the texture feature is prominent. In view of this issue, this paper study the spatial relation between the adjacent pixels in the remote sensing image,...

Texture feature Extraction for Land-cover Classification of Remote Sensing Data in Land Consolidation District Using Semi-variogram analysis

The areas of the land consolidation projects are generally small, so the remote sensing images used in land-cover classification for the land consolidation are generally high spatial resolution images. The spectral complexity of land consolidation objects results in specific limitation using pixel-based analysis for land cover classification such as farmland, woodland, and water. Considering th...

Texture Classification of Diffused Liver Diseases Using Wavelet Transforms

Introduction: A major problem facing the patients with chronic liver diseases is the diagnostic procedure.  The conventional diagnostic method depends mainly on needle biopsy which is an invasive method. There  are  some  approaches  to  develop  a  reliable  noninvasive  method  of  evaluating  histological  changes  in  sonograms. The main characteristic used to distinguish between the normal...

Pixel-Based Texture Classification by Integration of Multiple Texture Feature Evaluation Windows

A wide variety of texture feature extraction methods have been proposed for texture based image classification and segmentation. These methods are typically evaluated over windows of the same size, the latter being usually chosen for each particular method on an experimental basis. This paper shows that pixel-based texture classification can be significantly improved by evaluating a given textu...

Automated window size determination for texture defect detection

Texture defect detection methods are used for quality control purposes. Inspection systems fullfilling this task should be able to determine the necessary parameter sets automatically in case of a task change. One of these parameters is the size of the image window from which texture features are calculated. We present an approach for the calculation of an appropriate window size for statistica...
